Finding Inspiration at the Beach

Beach Wedding Starfish Inspiration Board

Beach Wedding Inspiration

Finding inspiration for your destination wedding can come from so many places. Of course here on
St Croix beach weddings are the craze, but I’m always so excited to see how my brides each interpret beach weddings differently and are inspired by different elements of nature for their color scheme and decor.

Here are 5 Tips to get you started:

  1. Start with images of the beach, sunset or other tropical landscape that inspire you. Collect them all on a Pinterest Board.
    {Pinterest is the COOLEST free tool to hit wedding planning EVER! If you’re not familiar, Start Here}
  2. Take a look at the images that you’ve collected – look at the big picture. Are there a couple of colors that repeat? Do you see a theme? Are there elements like starfish or shells that jump out at you?
  3. Narrow down your color palette to a neutral base color (this doesn’t have to white – think navy, beige, taupe, etc) and a couple of accent colors.
    {The Perfect Palette is a great source for exciting and unique color palettes. There’s a handy tool in the upper right – click on your main color and it will pull up a plethora of ideas.}
  4. Figure out your style. Are you a modern bride who likes clean lines? Romantic? Whimsical?
  5. Use your color palette and design elements to create or choose your Save The Dates and Wedding Invitations. Remember these are the first impression that your guests will have of your wedding, let it make an impact by tying into your wedding theme!

Find our Beach Wedding Inspiration Board on Pinterest, as well as color boards, client boards and more!

Get Inspired!

Destination Wedding Wedding Websites

Free Wedding Website from Wedding Paper DivasOne of the most important tools you can use while planning your Destination Wedding (well besides a wedding planner!) is a Wedding Website. There are many free options on the web for you to choose from, the most important thing is just that you have one.  This is a place most importantly for you to put information to pass along to your guests. By having information on a site that you can update, you’ll avoid having to answer the same questions over and over. You can also give your guests a “first impression” of your wedding the exciting things that you are planning. Be sure to include accommodation information including discount codes, contact information and links. Let your guests know too if you are planning any group activities, parties or other activities so that they can plan the rest of their trip around the planned activities.

A great way to set the tone for your island destination wedding is to find one that matches your Save the Date cards, invitations, etc. I really love Wedding Paper Divas and the best part – their wedding website are free!! How’s that for ya?!

Some of the features of the free wedding website include:

  • Match your site to over 40 of Wedding Paper Divas bestselling invitation designs.

Gina & Jonathan of Toronto, Ontario, Canada were such a fun destination wedding couple to work with from the very beginning! Their focus was on having a beautiful wedding that not only expressed their love, but showed their fun-loving personalities with surprise touches like Gina’s breakaway wedding dress (a gown that converted to a cocktail dress) that transitioned them into their hip-hop choreography to the surprise after-dinner performance by the Flaming Gypsies. Gina & Jonathan provided special touches that showed their appreciation to their guests like custom Welcome Gift Bags by SunCelebrations, waiting for them upon arrival to their hotel.

Gina & Jonathan’s color scheme was inspired by the tropical surroundings at the Palms at Pelican Cove. Their main color was bamboo green with contrasting pops of varying shades of pink. Truly stunning. We transformed the Palms beachside dining area into a cozy semi-private setting by utlizing a bamboo backdrop strung with white lights and complemented by green paperlanterns in vary shapes and sizes. The result, a magical, tropical ambiance.

Jennifer & Michael were our first official Webcam Wedding! Having several loved ones at home who couldn’t attend their beach wedding ceremony, we situated the ceremony right in front of Sand Castle on the Beach’s webcam so that friends and family back home could watch a live “broadcast”. As an added bonus, the West End of St Croix is known for some of the most spectacular Caribbean sunsets!
